Song Dong - 'Waste Not'

The collection of necessities and some items that one may naturally overlook in terms of 'what to keep' is quite fascinating, particularly with the addition of the political contextualisation of the collection.

The arrangement of the items somewhat remind me of the arrangement of goods in supermarkets and convenience stores, except in contrast to Song Dong's collection, the retail items are untouched and up for sale, whereas these objects collected in this display are intimate, personal and act like a documentation of the hardships lived through in the Cultural Revolution.

Andy Warhol - 'Campbell Soup'

Warhol's work is inspiring me to take a more pop art influenced direction for my collection about retail arrangements in supermarkets, convenience stores and thrift shops.

I liked the simplicity and cartoon like style of Movellan's, which correlates to the pop art direction I'd like to take my fine art project towards.
