Reflection

  • I felt the project today challenged my ability to take inspiration from shapes seen in drawings, to make patterns and paper garments out of it. Manipulating the paper garment structures was relatively challenging, as the paper was quite delicate, thus any extreme folds or manipulation would tear it (which ended up being the case for mine). For the final live drawings, I felt like I could be faster with drawing it, to create more abstract, gestural drawings.
  • For the textiles project, I found it fun to find different ways to illustrate and/or simplify the arrangement (as well as arranging them in various ways) to create the textile pattern through the addition of yarn. I felt like I could have done more variants of the textile design, though I really like how the illustrations leading up to it turned out. I think I could have done something more geometrical and blocky, for a textile design.
  • The fashion illustration project forced me to be more adventurous with my illustration style, particularly with the illustrations that only involved me drawing the garments on the person.
